About the QL-A2
The JVC QL-A2 is a semi-automatic direct-drive turntable manufactured by JVC between 1978 and 1981 in Japan. It features quartz speed control for superior precision, a coreless DC servo motor, and a die-cast aluminum alloy platter of 312 mm diameter. The turntable supports 33 1/3 and 45 rpm speeds with electric speed change and a start time under 1.4 seconds. It offers a wow and flutter of less than 0.025% WRMS and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 72 dB, ensuring stable and faithful playback. The tonearm is statically balanced with an S-shaped tube, effective length of 220 mm, and includes an anti-skating device and oil-damped linkage. The included MD-1029 dual magnet cartridge outputs 2.5 mV with a frequency response of 10 Hz to 25 kHz. The QL-A2 is known for its solid build, functional simplicity, and reliable performance, making it a strong entry-level or secondary turntable even decades after production ended.
