The Joseph Audio Pulsar is a compact, rear-ported two-way stand-mounted loudspeaker designed with precision and high-quality components. It features a 1" Sonatex dome tweeter and a 5.5" cast magnesium-cone woofer, both custom-made by SEAS in Norway to Joseph Audio's specifications. The cabinet is constructed from thick MDF with lacquered polyester bonded side panels to minimize vibrations and is acoustically dead to absorb extraneous vibrations, resulting in ideal acoustical properties. The Pulsar employs Joseph Audio's patented Parallel Asymmetrical Infinite Slope crossover at 2 kHz, which ensures steep cutoffs for improved stereo image focus, power handling, and smooth frequency response. It delivers a frequency response of 42 Hz to 20 kHz within ±2 dB and has a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, never dropping below 6 ohms, making it suitable for a wide range of amplifiers including tube designs. Weighing approximately 36 lbs and measuring 15" H x 9" W x 13" D, the Pulsar offers a blend of midrange purity comparable to ribbon and electrostatic speakers with the dynamic weight of larger speakers. It is praised for its speed, transparency, and ability to produce deep, coherent bass without mid-bass excess. The cabinet finishes include black on front, top, and back, with side panels available in Sapeli, Maple, Black, Cherry, or Rosewood. The Pulsar is ideal for smaller rooms and is recognized for its exceptional sonic attributes and emotional involvement in music playback.
