About the 2 BPS
The Jeff Rowland Model 2 is a high-performance solid-state stereo power amplifier featuring a fully balanced design with current-feedback topology for wide bandwidth, fast settling time, and low distortion. It delivers 75 watts continuous RMS into 8 ohms and 150 watts into 4 ohms, with a power bandwidth of 0.5 Hz to 160 kHz (-3 dB) and THD+noise less than 0.05% at rated power. The amplifier has a damping factor greater than 100 (20 Hz to 20 kHz, 8 ohms), output current of 20 amps continuous and 35 amps peak, and selectable gain and sensitivity. Input impedance is user selectable between 36k or 600 ohms for both balanced and unbalanced inputs. The BPS-2 is a dedicated battery power supply designed to power the Model 2 amplifier, containing six 6V, 12 ampere-hour sealed lead calcium batteries with microprocessor-controlled charging. Using the BPS-2 reduces noise and improves sound quality by providing clean, stable DC power, allowing the amplifier to operate for several hours on battery power alone. The combination is known for a relaxed, less aggressive sound character and is highly regarded for its build quality and sonic performance. Both units come with a 5-year warranty and are no longer in production but remain sought after in the high-end audio market.
