About the Daemon
The Daemon is Jeff Rowland Design Group's flagship super integrated amplifier, launched in 2015 and representing a technological leap as their fifth generation integrated amplifier. It delivers 1500 watts per channel into 8 ohms (2500 watts into 4 ohms) using a dual mono Class D amplification subsystem. The chassis is machined from solid 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum by Vertec Tool in Colorado Springs, weighing about 99 lbs (45 kg). The Daemon features a 7" x 5" touch screen interface designed with Danish firm Mjölner, and a precision weighted volume bezel with 99.5 dB range in 0.5 dB increments. It offers a full range of digital inputs including SPDIF (BNC/RCA), TOSLINK, AES/EBU, USB with DSD compatibility, and analog inputs with 3 RCA unbalanced and 2 XLR balanced inputs, all transformer coupled with custom Lundahl transformers. The amplifier includes XLR and RCA direct power amplifier inputs to bypass the preamp section, and preamplifier line outputs for external amplification or bi-wiring. The digital and analog power supplies are completely separated with local regulation at point of load, using 6-layer Rogers ceramic circuit boards. Optional modules include HDMI input/output, MC/MM phono stage, and WiFi streaming (the WiFi module was later canceled). The unit includes a fully isolated headphone amplifier with a 1/4" output jack. Control is via a Bluetooth Low Energy remote or mobile app. The Daemon is designed for ultimate sonic performance, flexibility, and isolation, with firmware updatable via USB and universal auto-ranging power supply for worldwide use. It is considered one of the most sophisticated integrated amplifiers available, combining high power, advanced digital and analog circuitry, and exquisite build quality.
