Continuum 500
Jeff RowlandAbout the Continuum 500
Produced between 2009 and 2013, the Jeff Rowland Continuum 500 integrated amplifier utilizes 500 watt ICEpower modules similar to those in the 201, 501, and 300 series. It incorporates Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry for near-linear energy transfer from power line to speaker outputs, supported by a 1500 watt pre power supply PFC rectification and twin custom bulk output capacitor banks. The amplifier delivers tremendous authority, neutral extension, excellent imaging and staging, and the ability to recover minute sonic details with harmonic richness. It can drive speakers ranging from full-range three ohm electrostatics and bipolars to large dynamic designs. The power supply is a low noise, high-current switch mode power supply with universal AC input voltage. The chassis is precision-machined from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum with a unique milled design to reduce resonance. The volume control features a dual-range optical encoder for precise and noiseless adjustments over a 99.5 dB range. Optional internal phono preamp modules are available. The amplifier has fully balanced inputs and outputs, bypass function, and remote control operation. The Continuum 500 is recognized by its green display (second series) and measures 394 mm wide, 135 mm high, and 380-400 mm deep. It weighs approximately 35 lbs (15.9 kg).
