About the Optimo S ATX
The JCAT Optimo S ATX is a truly linear ATX power supply capable of delivering up to 23 amps on the main voltage lines (12V, 5V, and 3.3V), fully compliant with the ATX2.0 specification. It is designed specifically for high-performance computer platforms, especially those used in audio playback and music servers, where clean and stable power is critical. Unlike typical switching power supplies, it uses low noise linear regulators for all voltages, including control circuits, achieving noise performance below 25uV RMS. The power supply features three bespoke massive low-induction toroidal transformers, each magnetically and electrically shielded and sealed in stainless steel with epoxy resin to ensure noiseless operation and minimal stray fields. One transformer is dedicated to the 12V line, another for the 5V and 3.3V lines, and the third for other voltages such as -12V and standby. It includes an active rectifier using MOSFET transistors switched at zero points of the AC waveform for low noise and heat dissipation. The unit is microprocessor-controlled with a low noise DSP for power management, soft start, and ATX control functions, with galvanic isolation for sensitive circuitry. The chassis is made from thick laser-cut stainless steel for rigidity and low mechanical resonance, using non-magnetic materials throughout to minimize noise. The power supply includes standard ATX connectors plus two auxiliary outputs for 5V and 12V power, allowing it to power peripheral devices alongside the computer. It delivers about 470W maximum output power with a maximum AC power consumption of 750VA and weighs approximately 27 kg. The unit is well ventilated with extensive heatsinking to handle heat from linear regulation. It is designed to improve HiFi sound quality significantly when powering computer music servers, providing a very clean and stable power source that enhances musicality and overall audio performance. Installation is straightforward with neatly sleeved and shielded cables and automatic power on/off synchronized with the PC. The product is manufactured in the EU to high standards using audio-grade components.
