About the S310
The JBL S310 is a 3-way, 3-driver floor-standing loudspeaker system released around 2000. It features a 10-inch PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) woofer with rubber surround, magnetic shorting rings, a high-temperature oversized Kapton voice coil, HeatScape motor structure, and cast-aluminum basket. The midrange driver is a 4-inch PolyPlas cone with rubber surround, and the tweeter is a 1-inch pure titanium dome with rubber surround, mounted on an Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide for improved dispersion. The enclosure is a bass reflex design with a flared FreeFlow port located on the front under the grille. The speakers have gold-plated, all-metal five-way binding posts and come in finishes including black ash, beech, and natural cherry. Dimensions are approximately 876 x 330 x 305 mm (34.5 x 13 x 12 inches), and each speaker weighs about 22.7 kg (50 lbs). The frequency response is 40 Hz to 20 kHz with a sensitivity of 91 dB and an impedance of 8 ohms. The maximum recommended amplifier power is 200 watts to ensure proper headroom for peaks. The drivers have a 5-year warranty, and the enclosure has a 2-year warranty. The S310 is known for accurate and crisp sound reproduction with tight low bass and clear midrange and highs, suitable for both music and home theater use.
