About the C40 Harkness
The JBL C40 Harkness, released in 1957, is a floor-type speaker system employing a rear-loading horn (back load horn) system. Designed as a horizontal model of the C34, it was available with left- and right-side enclosures for stereo playback. Known as the 'King of the Low Boys,' it is the big brother to the JBL C38/C37/C34. Various configurations exist, including 001, 002, 030 loads with components like D123, D130, D131 woofers, 075 tweeter, LE175 compression drivers, 1217-1290 horns, and crossovers such as N1200 or N2400. It is no longer manufactured and appears only in the vintage used market.
