About the CDT-3 MKII
The Jay’s Audio CDT-3 MKII is a high-end, top-loading, dedicated Compact Disc transport rather than a complete CD player: it has no onboard DAC or analog audio outputs and requires an external DAC. It uses Jay’s Audio’s tuned Philips CDPRO2-LF optical mechanism, a rubidium-clock-based timing system, separate regulated power supplies, and galvanically isolated digital outputs. It plays standard Red Book CDs as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs (subject to disc compatibility), and provides selectable native 44.1 kHz or upsampled 192 kHz digital output. Connections include S/PDIF over RCA and BNC, AES/EBU, and I²S via HDMI. The large CNC-machined aluminum chassis, Talema encapsulated transformers, Schurter IEC inlet, Neutrik XLR connector, Walt Jung super-regulator circuitry, and external word-clock provision are key design features.
