About the MC2 Finish Gold
The Jan Allaerts MC2 Finish Gold is a meticulously handmade moving coil phono cartridge known for its exceptional precision and sound quality. It features a casing made from manually milled and drilled aluminum, covered with a 0.2 mm thick layer coated in 24 carat gold foil, anodized in gold color. The cartridge weighs 10 grams and has a low output of 0.2 mV with medium compliance. It uses a solid boron cantilever holding a Fritz Geiger Signature stylus. The terminal pins are milled from 14 carat gold, and the gold coils are hand-wound with 20 microns thin gold wire, reflecting the extreme craftsmanship involved. The cartridge case acts as a Faraday cage to reduce interference, and it uses aged Schor rubber suspension for durability. It delivers outstanding channel separation (60 dB at 1 kHz, 70 dB at 100 Hz and 20 kHz) and is praised for its tonal color, speed, agility, and holographic soundstage. The MC2 Finish Gold is considered far superior to its predecessors and is highly regarded among audiophiles, often paired with specialized phonostages to maximize performance.
