About the 135 Hz Midbass Horn
The Inlow 135 Hz Midbass Horn is a high-efficiency horn speaker designed to complement the Spiral Bass Horn by providing articulate midbass response with a 3 dB down point at 135 Hz. It is typically powered by the B&C 8PE21 eight-inch driver or the B&C 12PE32 twelve-inch driver, delivering a smooth, flat frequency response over about three octaves bandwidth. The horn is approximately 40 inches in length and is designed to be used with a higher crossover frequency than the original 100 Hz midbass horn, allowing for better energy balance between upper bass and midrange. It offers striking realism and low distortion, with an efficiency around 110 dB/W. The design is segmented and can be built from plywood, with plans provided by John Inlow. The horn is large and cannot be folded at this frequency, requiring substantial enclosure size. It is suitable for high-fidelity audio applications where clarity and dynamic midbass are desired.
