The Hyperion Sound Design HPS-938W is a premium three-way, four-driver floorstanding loudspeaker system with a unique dual-cabinet design separating the bass and mid/tweeter sections. It features two 8-inch P.P. graphite Synchro Vibrate Flat Top (S.V.F.) woofers in a bass reflex enclosure for fast, coherent, and impactful bass response. The midrange driver is a 6.5-inch carbon fiber S.V.F. cone with magnetic fluid damping (M.F.D.S.) for nimble and accurate midrange reproduction, while the tweeter is a 1-inch silk dome with a copper short horn for smooth, extended highs. The crossover frequencies are set at 230 Hz and 3 kHz. The speaker has a frequency response from 30 Hz to 22 kHz, sensitivity of 90 dB, and nominal impedance of 6 ohms (minimum 3.8 ohms). Power handling ranges from 5 to 200 watts. The HPS-938W is finished in birdeye maple with a high gloss piano lacquer and consists of an upper cabinet (midrange/tweeter) and a lower cabinet (bass), allowing for flexible placement and soundstage tuning. Dimensions are approximately 390 x 300 x 365 mm for the upper cabinet and 650 x 300 x 465 mm for the lower cabinet, with weights of 25.3 lbs and 63.8 lbs respectively.
