The Herron Audio M-1a mono power amplifier employs a full complementary symmetry bipolar implementation without coupling capacitors in the forward direction, using advanced wide band output devices for enhanced low-level linearity. It features proper stage-to-stage impedance matching to ensure extraordinarily low distortion and a unique successive stage to output confluence that provides a seamless combination of micro/nano-resolution from forward stages and robust controlled power from successive stages. This design eliminates crossover notch problems common in many solid-state amplifiers. The M-1a runs cool under most listening conditions without requiring high idle current or class A bias output stage operation. Its output network is resonance-free and stable even with a 1 micro-Farad capacitor across the output terminals. Sonically, it combines the fine resolution and liquidity typically associated with tube amplification with the power and bass control of solid-state designs. Individual voices remain distinct and clear even in complex orchestral and choral music, delivering pure and true sound with clarity, focus in time, and naturalness inherent in all Herron Audio products. The amplifier has a gain of 24 dB, input impedance of 220k ohms, and is designed for 120V operation.
