About the UltraSonic Rx Damping Instrument
Herbie's UltraSonic Rx Damping Instrument is a popular damping device for audio vacuum tubes, designed to improve microdynamic speed, linearity, and detail of audio sources. It reduces microphonic anomalies and eliminates harshness or dryness in tube audio systems, allowing the tube gear to perform with fluid and dynamic musical potential. The instrument features a mildly spring-tempered titanium C-ring holding three modified PTFE isolation pads, each with a specially formulated polymer O-ring against the tube glass. It can handle radiant heat up to 482° F (250° C) and comes in various sizes to fit different tube diameters, from sub-miniature tubes to super-giant tubes. The isolation pads are interchangeable between C-rings, allowing size changes without buying a whole new instrument.
