About the TU9600
The Harman Kardon TU9600 is an active tracking AM/FM stereo tuner featuring digital synthesizer tuning with quartz-locked precision. It supports FM and MW bands with a tuning range of 87.5 to 108 MHz for FM and 520 to 1620 kHz for MW. The unit offers 24 station presets with automatic storage of settings such as Hi-Blend and stereo mode. It includes a remote control terminal and switchable Hi-Blend for noise reduction. The TU9600 delivers excellent audio performance with a signal-to-noise ratio of 75 dB (FM mono), 67 dB (FM stereo), and 53 dB (MW), low distortion of 0.1% to 0.6%, and high selectivity and rejection figures (selectivity 75-78 dB FM, IF rejection 90 dB, image rejection 80 dB, spurious rejection 80 dB). It was manufactured between 1991 and 1994 in Malaysia and was available in silver or black finishes. The tuner measures 443 x 73 x 342 mm and weighs approximately 3.4 kg. It is designed with a metal case and bookshelf form factor, and it was originally priced around 1,098 DM. The TU9600 is considered a top model in Harman Kardon's tuner range of that era, known for its sound quality and features such as remote control and digital tuning.
