About the Signature 2.0

The Harman Kardon Signature 2.0 is an A/V surround sound processor and tuner preamplifier introduced around 1998 and discontinued around 2001. It provides AM/FM tuning with RDS, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, and DTS 5.1 surround decoding, and is designed to partner with Signature Series multichannel power amplifiers. Connectivity includes 6 pairs of stereo RCA line inputs, 4 coaxial and 2 optical digital inputs, a 6-channel direct input for external multichannel sources, composite and S-Video video inputs and outputs, enabling flexible home theater system integration. Audio performance is specified with a frequency response of 20Hz to 50kHz, total harmonic distortion of 0.03%, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 87dB. It incorporates bass and treble tone controls and bass management with an adjustable crossover. The unit features an on-screen display for setup, an advanced learning remote control, and a mute function, and supports future multichannel formats via its six-channel direct input. The chassis measures 441 x 105 x 395 mm and weighs 10.5 kg. Though no longer manufactured, it remains of interest on the used market as a dedicated A/V preamplifier/processor.
