About the Super HL5

The Harbeth Super HL5 is Harbeth's largest domestic speaker and their most expensive model at per pair. It is a three-way design with a super tweeter, a high-frequency tweeter, and a mid/woofer. The cabinet is based on BBC research, constructed with thin MDF walls veneered on both sides, and designed to minimize resonances. The speaker features a 20mm titanium dome super tweeter with a neodymium magnet, a 25mm aluminum SEAS tweeter, and a 200mm RADIAL driver for midrange and bass. It has a bass-reflex port tuned to 35-40Hz, a nominal impedance of 6-8 ohms, and a sensitivity of 86dB/1W/1m. The crossover is carefully designed for seamless integration of drivers, resulting in a coherent sound with natural clarity, no metallic artifacts, and a wide soundstage. The speaker weighs about 15.8kg each and measures approximately 638 x 322 x 300 mm. It is biwireable with four gold-plated binding posts and recommended for amplifier power between 25 and 150 watts. The Super HL5 is praised for its transparency, balanced sound, and ability to reproduce a wide dynamic range with natural musicality.
