About the FryBaby
The FryBaby is a burn-in signal generator from Hagerman Technologies, designed primarily for burning in audio cables such as interconnects and speaker cables, as well as linestages, phonostages, and amplifiers. It operates either on a 9V dry cell battery or an AC adapter, providing approximately 33 hours of battery life with an alkaline cell. The device features a single knob to select output levels suitable for moving magnet (MM), moving coil (MC) phono stages, or normal line level output. Outputs include RCA jacks and adapters for speaker binding posts. The burn-in signal is a sophisticated waveform combining wideband noise and variable frequency amplitude modulation, with a bandwidth from 10Hz to 100kHz (FryBaby original) or up to 500kHz in later versions. The device outputs 1Vrms at line level, 10mVrms for MM, and 1mVrms for MC. It includes an LED indicator that blinks with the modulation rate. The FryBaby is used to burn-in cables in voltage mode (open circuit) and current mode (looped back), as well as to run-in amplifiers and tonearm cables. It comes with an audio CD containing burn-in tracks, various adapters, and a manual. The product is handmade in the USA and carries a 10-year warranty from Hagerman Technology LLC. The FryBaby has been praised for improving detail, soundstage, and tonal qualities of audio systems after burn-in.
