The Hagerman Audio Labs Trumpet MC is a vacuum-tube phono preamplifier designed for low-output moving-coil (MC) cartridges, while also accommodating moving-magnet (MM) cartridges through its adjustable gain and loading. It uses a fully balanced signal circuit from input to output, split-passive equalization without global feedback, DC-heated tubes, and an internal low-noise boost converter generating the tube supply rails after a startup delay. A differential JFET input stage provides selectable gain and resistive loading. The unit has one pair of RCA inputs and one pair of RCA outputs, and includes an external power supply and tubes. Hagerman’s current product page lists the Trumpet MC as an available product; it is therefore not identified as discontinued. Note that published documentation contains differing figures for gain, input capacitance, and chassis depth, likely reflecting different revisions or documentation versions.
