About the GH 242
The Hadcock GH 242 is a unipivot tonearm featuring a lightweight stainless steel arm tube and headshells, designed for superior tracking and musical performance. It has an overall length of 304.8 mm (12 inches) and a pivot-to-stylus distance of 243.8 mm (9.6 inches). The arm height is adjustable between 43 mm and 90 mm, with a pivot stem length of 86.4 mm. It uses a 15.87 mm (3/8 inch) mounting hole and supports cartridge masses from 3 to 12 grams. The offset angle is 23 degrees, and the rear overhang is 62 mm. The tonearm is praised for its stable, detailed sound with a gorgeous midrange and is considered a high-value product in analogue audio. Various models exist differing mainly in internal wiring, including the Export (OFC copper wiring), Export Cryo, Integra (Cardas wiring), Cryo, and Super Silver (Van den Hul silver wiring). The GH 242 Export model is noted for its natural 3D sound with depth, width, and height, and has won the Hi-Fi World Best Tonearm Award in 2004. Installation is compatible with many turntables such as SME, Thorens, Michell, and Linn. The arm is no longer in current production but remains highly regarded in the audiophile community.
