About the Sonata Allegro
The Gryphon Sonata Allegro is a premium preamplifier designed and built in Denmark, featuring a true dual mono configuration with separate chassis for the preamplifier and power supply to eliminate interference. It operates in pure Class A with fully discrete circuitry and zero negative feedback, ensuring ultra-wide frequency bandwidth and exceptional sonic neutrality. The unit includes microprocessor-controlled menu functions, an infrared remote control, and a microprocessor-controlled passive resistor volume control. It offers 3 balanced inputs, 2 balanced outputs, 2 single-ended inputs, and tape monitoring capabilities. The power supply is robust, with custom-built C-core transformers and 33,000 microFarad capacitance per channel, providing ultra-silent, battery-like power with extensive voltage regulation. The chassis is made of non-magnetic, non-resonant aluminum with mechanical decoupling and a distinctive satin black brushed aluminum and acrylic finish. The preamplifier supports an optional Gryphon Legato phonostage module and features gold-plated Swiss Neutrik XLR sockets and gold-plated input-isolating relays to minimize signal path length and noise. It is highly regarded for its timing, bass control, dynamic expansion, and transparency, making it a top-tier choice for audiophiles seeking natural and transparent sound reproduction.
