About the Kodo

The Gryphon Kodo is a flagship four-tower loudspeaker system designed without commercial compromise to deliver reference-level performance. It employs 38 custom-designed Gryphon drivers in total, with each channel comprising a passive mid/high-frequency tower and an active bass tower. Each bass tower houses eight custom 8-inch woofers driven by a built-in Gryphon Class AB power amplifier rated at 1,000 W continuous and approximately 4,000 W peak, providing powerful, controlled low frequencies down to a room-dependent -3 dB point of 16 Hz. The upper-frequency towers use a symmetrical vertical array of four custom midrange drivers and six midbass drivers around an AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter, with all 38 drivers custom-designed exclusively for Kodo. The system is semi-active, with the bass section offering remote level adjustment from the listening position, user-selectable low and high cut filters, and bass system Q settings to optimize bass integration with the listening room. The cabinets are multi-layer constructions with MDF side panels reinforced by aluminium panels, form-moulded curved exterior panels in laminated high-density fibreboard damped with bitumen, and solid aluminium bases with adjustable feet for high structural rigidity and acoustic damping. Gryphon's Duelund Constant Phase crossover implementation keeps all drivers in phase at all times, aided by concave, curved front baffles that provide a time-aligned geometry with equal distance from listener to the acoustic centre of each driver, enhancing coherence, imaging, and transient precision. Sensitivity is specified at 96 dB with a nominal 4 ohm impedance. Overall system height is approximately 237.5 cm for the bass towers and 232 cm for the mid/high towers, with a total shipping weight of approximately 1,354 kg.
