The Gryphon Kalliope DAC is a flagship product from Gryphon Audio Designs, engineered for the most demanding audiophiles. It features true dual-mono construction with dedicated ESS Sabre ES9018 32-bit DAC chips per channel, each utilizing eight individual D/A converters in dual differential coupling for optimal performance. The analog output stage is fully discrete, Class A, DC-coupled, and operates without negative feedback for maximum transparency and detail. Power is supplied by custom-built 65 VA toroidal transformers and 34,000 µF capacitor banks per channel, with separate, isolated supplies for analog, digital, and control circuits. The Kalliope supports PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to 6.144 MHz (DSD512), with advanced jitter reduction and a minimalist analog filter to preserve signal integrity. The unit is microprocessor-controlled, software-upgradeable, and features a vacuum fluorescent display with dimmable intensity.
