About the Impression II

The Grant Fidelity Impression II, also known as the Reference Tube CD-1000 player, is a high-end CD player featuring a hybrid design combining vacuum tube and solid state circuits. It has a manual top-loading mechanism and remote control. The player is designed with isolated aluminum chassis compartments for key components to minimize interference, including power supply, tube and solid state circuits, tube analog output, tube headphone amp, and CD drive. It uses two Burr-Brown PCM1794 D/A converter IC chips and multiple OPA2604/OPA604 operational amplifiers for current-to-voltage conversion and low pass filtering. The CD drive is a Sanyo DA11VZ unit with Nikon high-grade capacitors and Toshiba servo system components. Outputs include vacuum tube (EH 6922) unbalanced, transistor unbalanced, transistor fully balanced, digital coaxial, optical, AES/EBU, and a tube (EL84) headphone output. It supports defeatable up-sampling at 44.1 kHz/16 bit, 96 kHz/24 bit, and 192 kHz/24 bit. The chassis is anti-vibration isolated aluminum, and the top cover is brushed aluminum with an optional polished stainless steel finish for an additional cost. The player weighs 23 kg (50 lbs) and measures 17" W x 14" D x 7" H. It comes with a one-year parts and labor warranty and 90 days on tubes.
