About the 770R with Tube Phono Section
The Granite Audio 770R is a stereo tube preamplifier featuring a tube phono section and remote volume control. It is designed with high B+ voltages and high-current filament voltages on separate layers isolated by pure copper, providing excellent low noise, shielding, and minimal crosstalk. The circuit board uses a 4-layer design with maximum trace spacing and perpendicular crossings to reduce interference, unlike typical single-layer PC boards. The 770R uses tube rectification for a fuller, richer bass sound. High-quality components from Vishay, Alps, Sprague, Alcoswitch, Electroswitch, and Holco are mounted directly on the main board, with a separate power supply board to eliminate ground loop hum. Filaments are filtered and rectified with low-noise ultra-fast recovery Schottky rectifiers. Switches and contacts are gold or silver plated, and RCA inputs are hard gold plated over silver and copper for durability and signal purity. The 770R is praised for its musicality, extremely quiet operation, and ability to reveal fine instrumental detail while maintaining a broad musical picture. It is considered one of the finest tube preamps with a tube phono section available, delivering a natural and engaging listening experience.
