About the Elevator EXP
The Graham Slee Elevator EXP is an electronic step-up amplifier designed to amplify the tiny output of low-output moving coil (MC) cartridges to the level of moving magnet (MM) cartridges, allowing use with MM phono stages. It features 22dB gain and offers seven selectable cartridge load impedances (23, 30, 100, 840, 1000, 5100, and 47000 Ohms) via front panel switches for precise cartridge matching. Unlike traditional step-up transformers, the Elevator EXP avoids hum and distortion by using an ultra-linear amplifier design with a separate PSU1 power supply. It delivers a very wide frequency response (<10Hz to 917kHz), low distortion (0.02%), and low noise (-99dB CCIR Q-peak). The unit is housed in a compact metal chassis (107 x 50 x 180 mm) with single-ended inputs and outputs. It is recommended for use with Graham Slee phono stages such as the Era Gold, Reflex, or Revelation M, but can be used with any MM phono stage. The Elevator EXP is praised for its clarity, dynamic range, and ability to optimize cartridge performance through adjustable loading.
