About the Phantom II B-44
The Graham Engineering Phantom II B-44 tonearm represents a culmination of years of research and refinement in tonearm design, materials, and testing. It features the patented Magneglide™ stabilizer system, which uses powerful neodymium magnets to provide lateral stability, easy azimuth adjustment, and anti-skate compensation without mechanical contact, resulting in virtually friction-free operation. The arm uses a proprietary Swiss-made matched cup-and-pivot made of tungsten carbide for the main unipivot bearing, offering extremely low friction and high durability. The armwand is made of titanium, removable for quick cartridge changes, and incorporates a patented alignment system for precise setup. It supports a wide cartridge weight range (5-19 grams) and offers on-the-fly VTA adjustment with calibrated vernier scales. The Phantom II B-44 is available with two mounting profiles: the standard Graham Custom Mount and SME mount. It delivers deep, detailed bass, silky inner detail, dynamic impact, and a large soundstage with smooth, extended high-frequency response. The tonearm weighs approximately 1100 grams and has an effective length of 235mm (standard model) with an offset angle of 23.431 degrees and an overhang of 17.6mm. The design improvements over the original Phantom include refined Magneglide stabilizer, new internal wiring, upgraded pivot design, and titanium armwand, all contributing to enhanced dynamics and musicality. The Phantom II B-44 has received critical acclaim including Editor's Choice awards and high ratings from respected audio reviewers.
