About the Phantom

The Graham Phantom Tonearm is a magnetically stabilized, fluid-damped unipivot tonearm designed for exceptional analog playback performance. It incorporates the patented Magneglide™ stabilizing system using powerful neodymium magnets to provide lateral stability and damping, allowing true vertical pivoting with extremely low friction and no azimuth deviation even over warped records. The tonearm features a removable titanium armwand available in 9", 10", and 12" lengths, enabling off-turntable cartridge mounting and precise alignment. The pivot assembly uses a constrained-layer combination of brass and tungsten with a tungsten-carbide tip riding in a sapphire cup for superior bearing performance and energy absorption. The armwand is progressionally extruded with a glass overlay to suppress resonances and standing waves. The Phantom supports cartridge weights from 5 to 19 grams and offers fine, repeatable adjustments including vertical tracking angle (VTA) and anti-skate. It is available with standard Graham Custom Mount or SME mount options. The design emphasizes neutrality with no sonic signature, broad sound staging, detailed resolution, and dynamic musicality, making it a benchmark in tonearm design and performance.
