It incorporates a new bearing system with a more substantial brass bearing cap, replacing the lighter aluminum cap of earlier models and improving bass extension, dynamics, and overall solidity. The 2.2 also uses a one-piece mounting base and revised armwand support block, contributing to greater mechanical stability and more refined midbass/midrange fullness and high-frequency smoothness. Internal armwand wiring was updated versus the 2.0, and the tonearm employs damping fluid at the pivot, with user-adjustable fluid level that affects sound but is intended to remain within a recommended range. The 2.2 offers azimuth adjustment via side weights, and production variants include models with tungsten side weights (2.2 reference) and lighter brass side-weight versions paired with different armwand materials in lower-cost arms.
