About the BiX Original

The Grace Design BiX Original is a compact, floor-mounted acoustic instrument preamp/EQ/DI that delivers the same reference-grade, crystal-clear and ultra-quiet audio performance as Grace Design's larger FELiX and ALiX units, with over 30V internal operating voltage for high headroom and detailed, dynamic tone. It provides smooth, open highs and deep, solid lows via high and low shelving EQ, and is voiced to faithfully reproduce and enhance the natural character of quality pickup systems. The BiX Original features a 1/4" high-impedance instrument input, separate FX send and return jacks, a 1/4" unbalanced line output, and a balanced XLR DI transformer-isolated output. Controls include input gain, high and low shelving EQ, and a variable boost circuit (up to about 10 dB), with dedicated mute and boost footswitches. Rear-panel DIP switches select between two different transition (corner) frequencies for both the High and Low EQ bands for finer tonal control. The pedalboard-friendly chassis runs from a standard 9V DC external supply, which is stepped up internally to more than 30V, and the unit is made in the USA with a 5-year transferable warranty.
