About the Line Force

The GR-Research Line Force speakers are open-baffle line array speakers that use six Bohlender-Graebener NEO10 drivers and sixteen NEO3 drivers per speaker. They feature high-quality crossover components including Miflex copper foil in oil capacitors, Dueland JDM tinned-copper bypass caps, Munford foil inductors, and Path resistors, with Neotech UP-OCC solid core copper wiring in Teflon. The speakers have a nominal impedance of eight ohms, dropping to six ohms in lower frequencies, and an efficiency of approximately 98 dB/W. As line arrays, their sound pressure decreases more slowly with distance compared to point source speakers, allowing ample power from moderate amplifiers. The crossover frequency to GR-Research Triple Threat open-baffle servo-controlled subwoofers is about 170 Hz. Due to the acquisition of Bohlender-Graebener by Christie Digital, the original NEO10 drivers are no longer available, and GR-Research is working on alternatives and new crossovers. The speakers are noted for their transparency, speed, clarity, and revealing signature sound, with a very narrow baffle design and minimal surface reflections. The project was costly and delayed, with only a few units ever built due to driver availability issues. GR-Research currently has no plans to produce new line-source speaker kits but may revisit the design in the future.
