About the Triton Reference

The GoldenEar Technology Triton Reference is a flagship, three-way floorstanding loudspeaker with an integrated powered subwoofer section. It combines a high-gauss Reference High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR/AMT-style) tweeter, two 6-inch cast-basket mid/bass drivers, three 6 x 10-inch long-throw quadratic subwoofer drivers, and four side-mounted quadratic planar infrasonic passive radiators. The active bass system uses a DSP-controlled digital amplifier, while the midrange and treble are driven by an external stereo amplifier. Published specifications vary between GoldenEar product generations and regional documents: earlier literature lists 12 Hz–35 kHz, 93.25 dB efficiency, and an 1,800-watt amplifier; newer product pages list 26 Hz–25 kHz typical response and 1,500-watt peak/750-watt RMS amplification. Independent measurements reported approximately 93.1 dB sensitivity, a minimum impedance of 3.4 ohms, and low distortion at moderate listening levels. The speaker was introduced as a current flagship model but is now presented by GoldenEar in archived/product-archive materials and is generally regarded as discontinued or superseded; availability is therefore limited to remaining dealer stock and the used market.
