The GoldenEar Technology Aon 2 bookshelf speaker offers professional-grade audio performance in a compact form factor. Originally designed for near-field monitoring in studios, it delivers accurate high-definition sound with superb three-dimensional imaging. The speaker features a unique truncated pyramid cabinet with non-parallel walls to reduce internal standing waves and diffraction. It houses a 6-inch cast-basket polypropylene mid/bass driver, a High-Velocity Folded Ribbon (HVFR) tweeter for silky smooth and ultra-high resolution highs, and two 6.5-inch planar low-frequency passive radiators mounted on the sides to extend bass response down to 42 Hz. The grille is an acoustically transparent sock that cannot be removed but can be pulled down to expose the drivers. Rated for amplifier power from 10 to 200 watts, the Aon 2 has a sensitivity of 89 dB and an 8-ohm nominal impedance. It is well suited for choral, orchestral, jazz, and acoustic music, offering a wide soundstage and detailed imaging, though it is less capable with heavy bass or rock music compared to larger models like the Aon 3. Dimensions are 8" W x 12" H x 10" D, and it weighs about 12 lbs. The design emphasizes transparency and dynamic contrast, making the speakers effectively disappear in the listening space.
