The GeerFab Audio D.BOB (Digital BreakOut Box) is an HDMI audio de-embedder designed to extract stereo high-resolution audio from compatible universal disc players and other HDMI sources for conversion by an external DAC. It can extract stereo DSD64 from SACDs and output it using DoP (DSD over PCM), as well as extract stereo PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz from Blu-ray Audio, DVD, and other compatible HDMI sources. Audio is provided through coaxial and optical S/PDIF outputs, while an HDMI output passes video through to a display. The unit is HDCP 1.4 and copy-protection compliant. A compatible source must output DSD64 and/or high-resolution PCM over HDMI, and an external DAC must support DoP through S/PDIF for DSD playback. The manufacturer’s current website and recent dealer listings indicate that the D.BOB remains an active product; it should not be considered discontinued.
