The Garrott P77i cartridge, designed by John Garrott, combines advanced design features to deliver a warm, musical, and highly accurate sound. It incorporates critical acoustic damping to control unwanted resonances, a highly accurate suspension for precise groove signal extraction, and a low Q dual-tube alloy cantilever for minimal transmission loss. The custom Garrott MicroScanner II gem-quality, grain-oriented parabolic diamond stylus ensures super-accurate groove tracing and excellent treble control with low surface noise. Its special magnetic circuit provides delicate positional information, a wide sound stage, and exceptional channel separation. The cartridge features high-output coils eliminating the need for step-up devices and is individually fine-tuned under microscopes to achieve a clear and realistic mid-range sound similar to Decca variable magnetic reluctance designs but with added warmth. The P77i offers the dynamics of moving coil cartridges without their typical brittle treble or listening fatigue, combined with the smooth, easy-listening sound characteristic of the best moving magnet cartridges.
