About the L5

The GamuT L5 is a high-end floorstanding loudspeaker from GamuT’s L-series, built around ScanSpeak Revelator drivers and GamuT’s proprietary NRLI crossover technology for highly precise impulse response and low compression. It is a two-and-a-half-way bass-reflex design using two 7-inch ScanSpeak Revelator sliced paper cone mid/bass drivers and a 1.5-inch ScanSpeak Super Revelator ring radiator tweeter with a stainless-steel phase plug. The tweeter is mounted on a machined aluminium faceplate, and the drivers employ powerful vented motors, low-loss suspensions, and aerodynamic aluminium chassis for controlled, linear performance. The L5’s frequency response is specified as 32 Hz – 60 kHz, with sensitivity of 89 dB (2.83 V/1 m) and a nominal impedance of 4 Ω, dipping to 2.8 Ω at 200 Hz. Recommended amplifier power is typically quoted in the 50–300 W per channel range; due to its impedance behaviour, high-quality, stable amplification is advised. The cabinet is constructed from high-density fiberboard (HDF) with an internal skeleton of braces and bitumen damping to control resonance. It is finished in real-wood veneer with multiple layers of hand-polished high-gloss lacquer, most commonly Bird’s Eye Maple or Rosewood depending on market and production run. The enclosure uses large stainless-steel spikes for mechanical grounding and floor coupling. Inputs are via four gold-plated WBT binding posts providing bi-wire and bi-amp capability. The crossover network is GamuT’s Non-Resonant Linked Impulse (NRLI) multi-order design on a carefully laid-out board to minimize electromagnetic interaction and preserve transient fidelity. Some owner and review reports associate the L5 with high-quality cabling such as Van den Hul, but internal wiring is not consistently documented in primary specifications and should not be assumed as a fixed feature for all units.
