About the Ktêma
The Franco Serblin Ktêma is a high-end loudspeaker designed by Franco Serblin, the founder of Sonus Faber. It features a four-way topology with five drivers: two custom-made 9-inch metal cone woofers compression-loaded and room interfaced at the rear lower part of the enclosure, two custom-made 4-inch midrange units in a step-compensated baffle with cardioid acoustic resistance, and a 28mm soft-dome tweeter designed by Ragnar Lian. The cabinet is a rigid, triple arch-shaped structure with concave lateral front cheeks and a convex rear woofer compressor, finished in high gloss piano black or satin sycamore with hand-polished aluminum top and bottom. Internal wiring uses Yter pure silver-palladium mono wiring. The crossover employs a mutational variable slope design for coherent spatial radiation. The Ktêma has a frequency response of 26Hz to 33kHz (in-room), a nominal impedance of 4 ohms (minimum 3.2 ohms at 70Hz), and a sensitivity of 92 dB/W/m. It requires a minimum amplifier power of 20 watts per channel. Each speaker weighs 55 kg (110 kg per pair) and measures 111 cm high, 42.5 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. The Ktêma is a limited edition model with Franco Serblin's signature engraved on the top panel. It is highly regarded for its resolution, musical perspective, and unique design philosophy inspired by theatrical proscenium concepts. The
