About the Forte F-44
The Forte F-44 is a high-quality Pure Class A dual-channel line level preamplifier designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional musicality and technical performance. It offers six line-level inputs plus a tape loop, with both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs and outputs. The preamplifier uses J-FET inputs and FET outputs in a fully cascoded, DC-coupled, and Class A biased discrete gain stage topology. It features motorized volume and input selector controls operated by remote, ensuring no signal degradation from additional circuitry. The power supply includes large audio-grade capacitors and separate active regulated supplies for each channel and the balanced section, supported by a custom dual potted transformer. The unit is built with gold-plated contacts and sealed switch bodies to prevent oxidation and dust ingress. It has a frequency response from 1 Hz to 200 kHz, total harmonic distortion of 0.005%, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB. The Forte F-44 is about 1U rack size, weighs approximately 5 lbs, and comes with a remote control. It does not include a built-in phono stage, so turntables require an external phono preamplifier. The build quality and sonic performance are highly regarded, making it a benchmark preamplifier in its class.
