About the Air Bearing Drive
The Forsell Air Bearing Drive is a world-renowned air bearing turntable and tonearm system created by Dr. Peter Forsell. It features an air bearing platter and tonearm that use pressurized air to achieve near-frictionless, zero-wear motion, resulting in extremely high sound fidelity. The system includes air regulators, purge tanks, and multiple air pumps to maintain the air film that supports the platter and tonearm. The turntable's cabinet is made from aluminum with acoustical dampening to silence the pumps, and the tonearm is often gold-plated for both aesthetics and performance. The air bearing technology provides superior straightness and flatness, minimizing mechanical noise and vibration. The Forsell Air Bearing Drive is considered a collectible and rare high-end audiophile product, with some models numbered and limited in production. However, it is no longer supported by the manufacturer due to lack of parts availability.
