About the DRC

Focus Fidelity DRC refers to Focus Fidelity’s software-based Digital Room Correction system, principally comprising the Filter Designer application (with the Impala measurement application). It analyzes multiple loudspeaker/room impulse-response measurements around the listening area to create a time-domain model of each channel’s acoustic transfer function. It then generates stereo FIR convolution filters intended to reduce room-mode decay, address loudspeaker phase/impulse distortions, and shape tonal balance to a user-defined target response. The resulting WAV filters are loaded into compatible playback/convolution software rather than processed by a dedicated Focus Fidelity hardware unit.
