About the FM 256-RC

The FM Acoustics LTD FM 256-RC is a Swiss-made, fully discrete line-stage preamplifier and successor to the FM 255 MKII-R. It combines enhanced Class A circuitry, true-balanced signal paths, switchable true-impedance input attenuators, adjustable internal system gain, a high-current balanced output stage, and FM Acoustics’ ARC (Acoustic Resonance Correction) circuit for addressing room-related standing-wave effects. A supplied remote control provides separate fast and slow volume adjustment for both rapid and highly precise level changes. The manufacturer’s published specifications describe exceptionally wide bandwidth, very low distortion, high input headroom, strong common-mode/interference rejection, and the ability to drive long balanced cables and low-impedance loads. It is handcrafted at FM Acoustics’ Swiss facility and is presented by the manufacturer as a current product rather than a discontinued model.
