About the F6

The First Watt F6 is a Nelson Pass-designed stereo Class A power amplifier introduced in the early 2010s. It uses a transformer-coupled input/phase-splitting topology, a Class A JFET input buffer, and a push-pull MOSFET output stage. The amplifier is intended especially for efficient, benign-load loudspeakers and provides a distinctive low-feedback, harmonically rich presentation. Its inputs are single-ended, and its compact, heavily built chassis uses passive cooling. First Watt’s product information lists the F6 among models subject to a final production run or “last call”; it is no longer generally available as a current-production model, although new-old-stock and used examples may still be found.
