About the F2
The First Watt F2, introduced in 2005 and hand-built by Nelson Pass (only about 100 units produced), is a single-stage single-ended Class A current source amplifier without feedback. It features a rich pure 2nd harmonic character, wide bandwidth, and is optimized for high-efficiency full-range drivers like Lowther or Fostex, or as a headphone amp for certain models. Unlike the F1, it has an output impedance of 15 ohms (switchable to ~700 ohms), RCA inputs only, and lower power. The F2J variant uses JFETs for lower distortion. No longer in production; available only used. Recent used market prices range from $1,500 to $2,250 USD.
