About the Don Garber 2A3 Monoblocks
The Don Garber 2A3 Monoblocks are handcrafted, single-ended triode amplifiers known for their simplicity and musicality. Each monoblock uses a direct-coupled 2A3 output tube driven by a 6SF5 single triode driver tube, with no coupling capacitors in the signal path, resulting in a very open, relaxed, dynamic, and detailed sound. Each amplifier has its own power supply filter network with SCR polypropylene capacitors and Dale wire-wound resistors, and each 2A3 tube is powered by its own filament transformer to ensure optimal performance. The output transformers are high-quality MagneQuest DS025 units. These amplifiers deliver about 3 watts of power and are praised for their punchy, deep, and detailed bass, natural timbre, and excellent imaging, making them especially suited for acoustic and vocal music. The design allows easy tube rolling, enabling users to shape the timbre by exchanging tubes. Originally Don Garber's approach emphasized simplicity and musicality, earning him a reputation as an American tube legend.
