About the Exception SE

The Exemplar Audio Exception SE is a hand-built tube line-stage preamplifier with a short, direct-coupled signal path, no negative feedback, and an actively loaded source-follower output stage. It uses 6H6P dual triodes, Audience output capacitors, Vishay resistors, shielded transformers, shunt regulation, and regulated tube filaments. The unit provides five RCA inputs plus a home-theater bypass, RCA and balanced XLR outputs, remote-controlled volume, input selection, mute, and power functions. Published specifications include a frequency response of 10 Hz–50 kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio above 90 dB.
