About the Jo No.5 LOMC
The EAT Jo No.5 is a premium low-output moving coil (LOMC) cartridge designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional sound quality. It features a Nude Fine Line stylus and a cartridge body and stylus guard made from polyamide using an advanced additive manufacturing process called Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), which sinters thin layers of powder with a laser to create the final structure. The cartridge is housed in a distinctive mint green shell, characteristic of E.A.T.'s design. Sonically, it delivers a truthful and immersive soundstage with excellent channel separation and musicality. The Jo No.5 is based on an Ortofon Quintet design but incorporates significant modifications such as an aluminum cantilever replacing Ortofon's boron, a Fine Line stylus profile instead of Shibata, and different coil windings and suspension, effectively combining features akin to Ortofon's Quintet Black and Cadenza Red models. It has a recommended tracking force of 2.3-2.4 grams, an output voltage of 0.33 mV at 1 kHz, and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 26 kHz ±1.5 dB. The cartridge uses pure 4N copper coil wire and recommends a load impedance greater than 20 ohms. It is praised for its outstanding price-to-performance ratio, competing with cartridges costing significantly more.
