About the Universal Tape Stage
The EternalArts Universal Tape Stage is a specialized audio component developed to interface professional analog reel-to-reel tape machines with high-end audiophile systems. It processes balanced or unbalanced signals to deliver the precise signal levels required by professional tape machines, ensuring optimal recording and playback quality. The amplifier is designed to be absolutely linear with a very high signal-to-noise ratio and minimal crosstalk. It features calibrated VU meters for accurate signal level monitoring, supporting magnetic flux settings of 320 or 510 nWb/m. For monitoring, balanced outputs compatible with the EternalArts twin type professional headphone amplifier are provided. The unit allows sensitivity switching between 'low' and 'high' for unbalanced inputs to match various input levels. During playback, the unbalanced tube output level can be reduced by 6 dB to prevent overloading downstream equipment. The VU meters can be set to display 0VU at either 4 dBu or 6 dBu depending on the signal level. A distinctive feature is the inclusion of a cathode follower PC86 triode valve in the unbalanced output stage, which enhances tonal quality across the frequency range and improves recordings. EternalArts has secured new old stock (NOS) PC86 valves for future production continuity. This product revitalizes classic high-quality concepts with modern components, aiming to bridge vintage professional tape machines and contemporary high-end audio systems.
