About the P70

The Esoteric P-70 is TEAC's statement-level CD transport, representing the pinnacle of Red Book CD playback technology. Designed with meticulous attention to detail, it features a precision-engineered aluminum/brass composite turntable with green dye to minimize diffuse reflection, a linear motor drive with objective lens drive and optical three-beam pickup system, and an 8mm thick heavy metal board bottom base with 3mm pure metal top panel for structural rigidity. The transport incorporates a fully integrated VRDS mechanism with copper and nickel plating to eliminate internal interference, supported by cast iron pin-point insulators for vibration isolation. It includes built-in digital-to-digital sample-rate conversion and word-sync functionality that provides a master clock completely synchronizing all internal devices, allowing transport jitter and transmission-line jitter to be completely ignored. The P-70 can be paired with complementary units from other manufacturers but is typically reviewed alongside the D-70 D/A converter as TEAC's statement CD products.
