The Esoteric X-03 SACD/CD player, released in 2005, is a premium audio component weighing approximately 23.3 kg and built with a robust 1.6mm steel chassis. It features Esoteric's proprietary VRDS-NEO transport mechanism with a duralumin turntable, precision ball bearings, and a 10mm thick SS400 steel bridge for vibration-free disc playback. The player uses Burr-Brown 24-bit PCM1704 DACs with fully differential outputs for the front channels, supported by a high-quality quartz crystal to minimize jitter and ensure excellent signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range. It supports CD and SACD formats, including multi-channel SACD playback via an IEEE 1394 (i.LINK/FireWire) digital output. The X-03 offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs, with WBT NextGen RCA connectors on special editions. Additional features include a word clock input for synchronization with external master clocks, a smooth aluminum disc tray, and a comprehensive setup menu allowing audio and speaker configuration. The player measures 442 x 153 x 353 mm and comes with a remote control (RC-941).
