The Esoteric D-70 is a premium digital-to-analog converter (DAC) designed for audiophiles seeking exceptional sound quality from digital sources. It employs four multi-bit Burr Brown PCM1704 DAC chips in a dual-differential, fully balanced configuration, delivering outstanding signal-to-noise ratio and extremely low distortion. The D-70 supports 24-bit input with sampling frequencies from 32 kHz up to 192 kHz, including simultaneous dual XLR inputs for 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz signals to ensure stable transmission. It features advanced Refined Digital Output Technology (RDOT) and a refined asynchronous memory link that isolates the DAC from input jitter by using a large RAM buffer, eliminating timing errors and ensuring pure D/A conversion. The unit includes multiple digital inputs (XLR, RCA, TOSLINK) and outputs, as well as balanced and single-ended analog outputs, plus digital volume control allowing direct connection to power amplifiers.
